gustin13000sep23Ryan Gustin cashed in on a $13,000 payday Saturday night at Deer Creek Speedway as he drove to victory in the finale of the USMTS Fall Jamboree. Starting in the middle of a three-wide front row, Gustin raced door-to-door with the leader for the first five laps before edging ahead on lap six. Fellow MRE pilot Stormy Scott got into the mix on the 11th lap as he pulled even with Gustin running the bottom of the track with Gustin riding the rim. “Stormy (Scott) was giving me all I wanted, Gustin said. "I didn’t want to set any faster pace than that but I didn’t want to lose the lead either.” Gustin would eventually put a cushion between himself and Scott. Gustin caught the back of the field with eight laps to go slowing him enough to allow Scott to close back in. A caution flew with five laps to go giving Gustin a clear race track ahead of him as he held on for the win. Buck Monson Photo
