Mullins Race Engines has just upgraded their machining capabilities with a 5-axis cnc mill. We will offer fully cnc machined dart blocks to buy with many different options. This will allow you to have a dart block fully blueprint cnc machined to your specs. Remember that out-of-state customers will not have to pay sales tax. The cost of shipping and sales tax will equal about the same money. This will allow an out-of-state customer to buy a fully cnc'd block for about the same price as you can from the local shop.

Block lightening options

We are offering two versions of block lightening. The first is what we call an internal lightening program. As you can see from the pictures, one of before and the other after, internal lightening has been done. We basically do all the lightening from the inside of the block. We try to remove material for weight and also remove material with purpose. Our purpose is to try to help with oil drain-back. We really open up the existing oil return passages in the intake valley of the block. The machined surface finish of the block will allow oil to flow across it better as well. The end result of the internal block lightening will allow better oil flow back to the sump area and remove approx 10-12 lbs of weight off the block without sacrificing any strength. Dart advertises their block to weigh between 200-205 lbs. After this process the block weighs approx 190 lbs.

Our other program we offer is a complete Dart lightening program. This is where we do the internal lightening and we do the outside of the block as well. When this is done we are taking approx 20-24 lbs off the block. The block ends up weighing between 180-182 lbs without sacrificing the strength of the block. You can buy a CNC block with either lightening process done to it or you can send in your own Dart block and have this done. This lightening program is for a Dart Little-m block. We are in the process of writing a program for the Dart SHP block now.
